art & healthy living

In partnership with GrowNYC, Studio in a School will be offering FREE art activities for kids of all ages every Saturday from 11am to 3pm until July 2. The activities will taking place at the Union Square Pavilion at 17th Street, which is located across from Barnes & Nobles. Art activities include:

Rub the Rainbow
During this activity children will not only be able to use their creativity, they will also learn to eat "five-a-day" of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as the idea of eating all the colors of the rainbow.

Collage & Puppet Making
Children will gain an appreciation for root vegetables while creating their collages and puppets, and learn that we eat all parts of a plant.

Observational Drawing
Children will explore vegetables and fruits first through feeling and then seeing. From seasonal fiddlehead ferns to the flower buds on a broccoli, they will see things they never saw before.

In addition to STUDIO's art activities, Teachers College, Columbia University will demonstrate nutrition experiments, and GrowNYC will provide cooking demonstrations.

GrowNYC is started with a great aim in making 75 % of the kid’s talents to the public through the studio. This studio was very approachable for all the kind of kids in the city and hope it is a beginning of the talent hunting in the country.
